The leadership team at Spectrum&Spark consists of senior professionals with extensive experience in executive roles within the corporate sector, as well as in legal affairs at the EU level. We founded Spectrum&Spark after observing a rise in ADHD and autism diagnoses in society—a trend where the focus remained primarily on the individual and the school environment. We asked ourselves:
What happens in the workplace?
We conducted a market survey among 120 large employers. It revealed that companies and public authorities generally lack knowledge regarding how to support individuals with ADHD or autism. Within HR departments, we discovered that many talented individuals are overlooked simply because there is a lack of understanding on how to adapt the recruitment process for people with these diagnoses. Below, you can see the results of our market survey:
• Middle managers with personnel responsibilities are often overburdened and lack the time to take action.
• HR departments do not provide practical assistance regarding neurodevelopmental disorder (NDD).
• Middle managers with personnel responsibilities often lack the mandate to implement necessary changes and adjustments.
• Lack of incentives. Excessive caution when balancing financial considerations against the work environment and development.
• A lack of communication between HR and middle managers with personnel responsibilities.
• HR lacks strategies for the recruitment process regarding individuals with ADHD and autism.
• Companies lack effective tools and working methods during implementation phases; they get stuck in planning rather than taking concrete action.
